How do income tax and tax forms work for the US?

Updated yesterday

Vetster requires that you complete a W-9 form to receive payouts for your appointments. The W-9 is an IRS form for US persons to provide their 9-digit tax identification number (TIN).

Taxes on the income earned on Vetster are the responsibility of the veterinary professional. Vetster does not withhold income tax. We provide a convenient summary of earnings to assist in tax filings. Vetster provides a 1099-NEC at the end of the year for those who earn over $600. Your tax summaries can be downloaded from within your dashboard.

For the 2025 tax year, Vetster will use a secure third-party tax reporting platform called Tax1099.com to prepare and distribute forms to our veterinarians. This platform helps ensure your tax documents are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time.

What to expect:

  • You’ll receive an email from tax1099.com requesting your consent for eDelivery of documents. After giving consent, you can access or download your 1099 by following the instructions and signing up for Zenwork xForce (an online portal powered by 1099.com)

  • Your 1099 will also be delivered to you via direct mail

Vetster cannot advise on tax matters as it is not a tax advisor and cannot provide advice about taxes or income reporting. We suggest you consult with your tax professional for any tax-related questions.
